Stone Ridge
Jacobus S. Vandermark is the first recorded owner of VanDermark House, with documentation provided by the 1797 Marbletown assessment. It is possible that the house is still older. The original first floor room has heavy beams and a large hearth and there is some original ironwork. In 1810 Vandermark expanded and updated the house in the Federal style, with many of these features preserved. It is situated on a creek (the creek flows under its cellar) in the middle of farmland, 60 acres of which is now protected by conservation easement.
