Whitelands Cottage

Stone Ridge
A vernacular house with its roots in an agrarian past, Whitelands Cottage may possess the fewest obviously Dutch characteristics. The road originally passed the house on the uphill side so that the front and back are reversed. The foundation floor is divided into two rooms, kitchen and dairy, with a strong dividing wall, separating the dairy from the heat from the kitchen. Exposed beams are slender and elegantly molded. The top floor was finished, indicating that it was used for living purposes rather than grain storage.
