Dubois House

Hurley
The original wooden house was built in 1747 by Johannis Du Bois, a second son of Louis Du Bois, one of the 12 French Huguenot patentees of New Paltz. Its H-bent timber frame construction is very rare and resembles the earliest buildings of New Netherlands.  In 1780, a stone addition was built onto the house, and the wood comprising the original east wall was replaced with stone. Some of the lumber may have come from the hay barracks once in general use for storage.
