Bevier House

Marbletown
The son of a Dutchman, Andries Pieterse Van Leuven, sent to help defend area settlers, originally owned houses on the land now occupied by the Bevier House. In 1715 the property was sold to Louis Bevier, a Huguenot, and it is thought that he demolished the two building on the property, and in 1740 built on one of the foundations. The house has undergone many episodes of reinterpretation, revealing changing ideas about historic preservation.
